SIRTECH ANNOUNCES WIZARDRY 8 RELEASE DATE

Ottawa, CANADA, October 10, 2001 – Sirtech Canada Limited today announced their eagerly anticipated title, Wizardry 8, will become available at retail stores across the USA and Canada on November 15, 2001.

Fans have long awaited information about the release date of Wizardry 8. “We remain completely committed to bringing Wizardry 8 to market and supporting the release so that our fans can experience the best role-playing has to offer,” said Linda Currie, Project Leader.

Thanks for the great news Linda. I imagine this is a huge relief for you as well... out in time for x-mas!

I look forward to this board being filled with our Wiz8 experiences instead of our Wiz8 expectations

Out of curiosity, anyone know how fast pre-ordered games usually take to arrive (specifically from chips 'n bits)?

Thanks Linda for your post and for everything. Everyone here
will soon run into store and buy this game. It's the only
thing we can do as a *big thanks* to you. (we can also
recommend the game or create some wizardry sect, where only
true believers should obtain full version. For initiates demo
will do .)

I am happy, because yesterday I've upgraded my computer from
P233 to AMD DURON 800, 128MB RAM, nVidia GeForce2 MX400 - and
Wizardry 8 really deserves it!!!

LLevram your board was really great and I hope (and others surely as well) that you'll keep the board for euphoristic W8 comments aso.

Linda recently mentioned that the announcement has sort of been "in-the-que" waiting for permission to be released. Presumably this would come from the publisher and the agreement with Sirtech Canada.

Bloody good news, this is one game I have been waiting for with such anticipation. OF course congrats to get the game out, but can you tell me (and others) what about the game being released "down under" - New Zealand/Aussie etc.

I was just down at the computer store checking out role playing games. I couldn't find one that didn't take place from a helicopter view. It's too bad, because so many of these games could be good, but I refuse to play a game you need a magnifying glass to see the characters. Thank you Linda and Sir-tech for bringing back what role playing is, first person, in your face role playing.

I just wanted to say "Thank you".

Thank you for keeping us in touch all the time,
thank you for helping me through the long wait.

I'm sure that it was a hard job to finally get this products into the shops and I'm sure glad you made it.

My first post on the other board was three or four years ago and you have been there long before. Thank you for posting on this board, it must have been a terrible job sometimes: To calm down the crowd like a bunch of children that want to go to disney-land, but yet keep us from giving up.....

But maybe our feedback could sometimes help developers as well, at least I hope so.


I'm really looking forward to the first puzzle I'm stuck with. I'll sure post a question on this board and maybe one courageous Sirtech-Member will be able to help....

Thanks again and let's wait whether the future will ever bring a chance (and money) to produce a wizardry 9.

What's up with wizardry8.com? It still hasn't been updated.. If this isn't important (and official!) news, then what is?
Of course the most important thing is not the website, but you told us the game was coming. I'm sure that by then everyone's full of big plans

Oh. Nearly forgot. Does the following line :

mean that Sybex is going to release it? Haven't heard about any publisher with that name; but then again, the important thing here is that it's gonna be released soon, no?

All i can say, as a longtime lurker of this board since its inception and also a longtime player (first played PGOTMO in 1986 & have been addicted ever since), WOO HOO HOT DIGGIDDY DAWG!!!! And what's really cool is that here in WV we get the next week off of school which means that i'll be able to play it for an entire week & not worry about trivial things like working or bathing or changing clothes or any oh crud i have to coach basketball during that week!!! But at any rate, since the news hit, i've been hyping up the news w/ my students. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!! i am so evil!!! i have an entire flotilla of middle school students whom i can influence to make their parents to go out & buy this game!!! i've already hinted that when i get the game, all homework & tests will cease until i complete all endings!! Oh well, countin' down the days. Thanx Llevram for keeping up this board & being such a stalwart defender (i'm gonna name me Lord after You), and Thanx Linda & Ian for keeping the faith to the fans (i'm gonna name me mage & priest after You two---for the magic that you all have created & for ressurecting this project)

And About Fargo Time, too! Especially since CompUSA, Best Buy, and so on, are already carrying the "Cheat Book" ($19.95 marked down to $14.95 at Best Buy).

Now. What about the $49.95 I paid way back when I ordered the game at the Wizardry site? I'll be hovering around the software shelves on the Ides of November and will buy it on the spot... and a week/month later my Inet copy will show up. I don't care so long as I get the game in my pokey old Dell T550 (soon to become a NEW Dell 1.5 gig I4 with more ram then Dodge).

Ain't life grand?

mtbear I would suggest u get the amd athlon 1.4 ghz. It is faster than the P4 and a lot less money.
in case u don't know there are significant problems with the p4. Half of the funtions have been disabled in the new chips.
go with the athlon.

Wizardry means a lot to me. Seriously. My dad's favorite games are just like these. (We've been looking for something as good as Dungeons and Dragons, may it RIP. Unfortunately before my time...) This'll be the first game we've played together since I was 11! (I hope!)

Who needs Calculus? When ever I need to do some type of calculus I pull out my trusty TI-85 calulator and a calculus book and then... Eureka! The answer presents itself after two months of cursing.

Wizardry 8 is much more important that Calculus.
